Dear scouts and parents,

Welcome back from the summer break!
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow FRIDAY AUG 30TH at 5:30-7pm for REGISTRATION – ASD HS Cafeteria. (**UPDATE: 2nd date for registration will be held on Friday, Sep 6th at 4:30-6pm - ASD HS Cafeteria).

If you are new to Scouting, know that your youth can join Scouts BSA if they are at least 10 years old, currently in the fifth grade and register on or after March 1st; OR have earned the Arrow of Light Award and are at least 10 years old, OR are age 11 but have not reached age 18.

We’re excited to introduce our new Scoutmaster, Renee A, who brings a wealth of scouting experience and enthusiasm to our scouting family. Scoutmaster Renee is eager to dive into the role and help guide our scouts in their scouting journey. At the same time, Scoutmaster Sean will continue in his dedicated role as the Road to Eagle Assistant Scoutmaster, ensuring that our Eagle Scouts-to-be have the support they need. We’re confident that Renee and Sean will make a fantastic team together with Assistant Scoutmasters Doug, Marcus, Karim, Samer, Sean O., and Shakir and the supporting TLC team. We look forward to an amazing year ahead with their guidance!

TROOP FEES:
TOTAL amount 660 AED in EXACT CASH for Troop fees. These fees cover the cost of patches, emblems, camping and first aid equipment, merit badges pamphlets and volunteer registrations among other items.

TAC FEES:
BSA has changed the process for registrations that requires each family to register directly through their TAC website for each of their scouts. Some of our current families are under a Jan-Dec payment cycle for TAC and some of our newer families are on an Aug-July cycle. You will receive the renewal link from TAC to the email of record (parent) starting 60 days from expiry.

Scouts on an August cycle would have already received the renewal link in June. Please make sure to have that updated and renewed before this Friday August 30th.
It is important to make payment as soon as possible and prior to expiry date so that your scout is able to continue to attend meetings/outings.

Please note our Troop Fees have increased from 580AED to 660AED this year due to the following factors:
1. New Rules from BSA following the court case that all parent volunteers at camp need to be registered with BSA as an Adult registered Leader and we are going to absorb that cost for those parents to recognize their contribution and encourage participation where needed.
2. Similarly this year we must pay a $25 registration fee for Merit Badge Counsellors who are not registered adults and we have around 10 of those. Again, the Troop funds this cost.
3. Finally we have assumed in our budgeting around 5% inflation on consumables we consume (eg badges etc).”
